JUNE Mason welcomed members and guests to the September meeting, with a special mention to Jean McGowan and Marilyn Harding. Apologies were received and the minutes of the last meeting signed as agreed.

The box making workshop to be run by Christine Donovan has been rescheduled for Monday, October 8, at the home of June Mason commencing at 2pm.

The next meeting of the Book Club to be held at the home of Anthea Vick has been delayed until October 24. If other members are interested in joining the group please contact June.

The booking arrangements are in place for the visit to Birmingham German Street Market on December 15.

Stella Thornton’s name has been submitted for the opportunity to win the Denman bursary.

A place has become available for the trip to Denman on November 29, and anyone interested should speak with treasurer, Pauline Smith.

Gill Gardiner confirmed that arrangements are in hand for the luncheon to be held on October 3, noon for 12.30pm at Holloways and places are still available for anyone interested.

Ann Sharp thanked members who have agreed to play skittles for the forthcoming season.

June confirmed that she is keen to start up a theatre group and a board would be passed round for those members interested in attending a performance of Macbeth in Worcester Cathedral during October and the Priory in November.

Copies were available for members to have a look at possible playlets for the group reading activities.

June thanked Angie Pulford, who has agreed to join the WI committee.

Birthday posies were presented to Marilyn Harding, Angie Pulford, Janet Davis and Lynn Saunders.

The table arrangement was presented to Gill Brighton who had been unwell.

The monthly competition was won by Ann Sharp.

Speaker John Pudge of the Hop Pocket gave an talk on bygone days of growing hops.

The next meeting in on October 2, at 7.30pm at Leigh & Bransford Memorial Hall.

There will be a presentation by Paul Denham JP and Colin Johnson on Local Crime Community Sentence (LCCS).
