AN ambitious £500,000 plan to improve Malvern Link railway station will be put before planners on Wednesday.
Worcestershire County Council wants to demolish existing waiting room and ticket office buildings and to create new buildings on both platforms, with canopies to provide shelter for passengers.
A new disabled access on to the Worcester platform would also be created off Osborne Road.
Planning officers are recommending that members of Malvern Hills District Council’s planning committee support the “much needed investment”. They also suggest some tweaks to the plans, including a park and ride scheme and the redecoration of the station footbridge.
The station plans have already been the subject of a public consultation, to which 108 people responded.
A total of 77 gave their support, two were against and 29 did not state a firm preference.
As it will be carrying out the work itself, Worcestershire County Council will make the final decision on the plans.
