MALVERN Priory’s annual “Walcher Lecture” is taking place at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 22.
Walcher was the second Prior in Malvern, at the end of the 11th century, and was renowned as an astronomer and mathematician.
Each year a leading scientist is invited to give a lecture on science and faith in his memory.
This year’s speaker is geneticist, Dr Denis Alexander, the director of the Faraday Institute in Cambridge, whose lecture is entitled Genes, Determinism and God. What makes us who we are? Can we change?
He will also be the guest speaker at the church’s 10am service on Sunday, September 23, when his subject will be Science and Faith – the View Both Ways.
Both events are free.
