AN evening of Americana will kickstart the life of a newly-refurbished venue later this month.
Reckless Shrimp Productions presents the Grand Finale in the Great Hall of Stanbrook Abbey, in Callow End, near Malvern on Tuesday, September 25.
It will provide a rare opportunity to see US songwriters and performers Butch Hancock, Rachel Harrington, Krista Detor and Lucy Schwartz.
It is Schwartz who opens the entertainment after extending her first ever UK tour to be part of the occasion and some of her original songs have featured in Twilight Breaking Dawn Pt. 1 and Shrek Forever After.
Next up are the haunting melodies and intriguing lyrical imagery of Krista Detor, who is said to craft songs like a poet and a playwright.
A mid-evening intermission will allow the audience to explore the beauty of the abbey and enjoy refreshments with an American flavour.
Rachel Harrington launches the second half with her music that draws from traditional American folk, bluegrass, country and rural soul.
The evening concludes with Butch Hancock, who is returning to the UK as a solo artist for the first time in 17 years.
A world travelling troubadour, his tunes evoke mystical visions of windswept dry-plains and his lyrical style has been compared to Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie.
Event organiser Tony Hickman said: “We are proud to be the first to entertain the public with the first ever American music event in the breathtaking surroundings of Stanbrook Abbey.
“We can promise the audience a very full evening of entertainment that will live long in the memory.”
The venue’s capacity for the evening is 140 and tickets are available at £37.50 or £50.
Doors open at 6pm. For more information, go to recklessshrimp.co.u
