Last week’s edition made it clear that the return of wheelie bins was once again not wanted.
The previous time cost the rate-payer a considerable amount, which could have been spent more effectively.
This time it is even more so; there is nothing wrong with the current scheme, it works well and is costeffective .
Please do not waste our funds mending something that is not broken.
The money is needed elsewhere.
Over the past decades developers have squeezed more houses into small plots purely for financial gain, no thoughts for the future occupants forced to grab whatever comes within their price range.
Wheelie bins will turn these estates into unsitely gettoes, without regard for those who did buy and may now lose money because of this unnecessary imposition.
Our estate was completed nearly 40 years ago.
Those who have nowhere to put their bin, will have to put it out the front – not a good selling point.
Then there are older people who cannot manage to move it for collection, we have a significant number of both on our estate.
Then of course the question all people in authority ducked.
Who pays for the damage/vandalism caused to the bin and our property?
Will we get the answer this time ? Probably not.
