IT is now more than two weeks since you informed us of Malvern Hills District Council’s intention to inflict on us all the change from weekly bag collection, which are on view for a few hours only, to the appalling fortnightly bins, on view forever.

Over the two weeks I and friends and neighbours have been gathering opinions on this matter and have found not a single person in favour of the change.

It would appear that the projected financial gain, even if believed, cuts no ice against the numerous disadvantages.

Everyone spoken to suggests that anyone in favour must live on flat ground, have somewhere to store these monstrosities and are the only ones who have found out how to push them and how to wash them out!

Overwhelmingly everyone hates the sight of the, the smell of them and the very big problems of storing them.

Would any of the councillors voting in favour want them in their front hall or have to wheel them through the house?

No one wants them parked visibly for ever more or, if living on the hills, have to manoeuvre them up a bank and block the many narrow pavements.

This is a foolish, short-sighted decision which for a debatable amount of financial gain will do great harm to this lovely town, and cause difficulty frustration and anger to much of the population.

It is almost impossible to understand the decision taken, which should be changed.

Are we to be treated with contempt and simply ignored now the matter has come up again?

The very best we can do is to find out which way our individual councillors voted and make sure that they never represent us again.
