THREE trees lining a road which crosses Malvern Link Common were cut down by county council workers on Monday.

The trees along Graham Road had to go because a routine inspection found they were becoming unsafe, a Worcestershire County Council spokesman said.

Jon Fraser, customer and community manager, said: “The tree inspection found extensive root and butt decay as well as crown dieback symptoms.

“Further testing confirmed that the trees had significant wood decay and these were below established safety guidelines.

For these reasons, it was necessary for us to remove these trees as quickly as possible to ensure the safety of residents.”
