THERE were singalongs and waving flags as Malvern Community Hospital hosted a celebration of the anniversary of VE Day.
Youngsters from St Matthias Primary School spent the morning making scones and corned beef sandwiches, which were enjoyed by the Friends of Malvern Community Hospital and invited guests under the cover of a marquee.
The year three and four pupils then led a singalong of familiar songs, including Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again, before visiting individual patients in the wards and performing for them.
Teacher Kate Cope, one of the organisers, said: “The children particularly enjoyed that element of it, and the patients were all very pleased to receive the visit.
“We already have a link to the hospital as we created an area of its garden, and it was nice to be able to continue that in this way.”
