A MALVERN teenager had a splashing time as she took to the water to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind charity.
Fourteen-year-old Dyson Perrins CE Academy pupil Emma Witherford was the youngest of 14 members from Wychavon Kayak and Canoe Club who took part in an 18-mile paddle along the river Avon from Leamington Spa to Stratford.
Her mother Liz, who also took part, said: “Emma and her partner were unfortunately the only ones in our group who got wet, after they attempted to ‘shoot’ a weir and capsized but she still finished with a smile.”
She added the event will hopefully have raised about £500 for the charity. Meanwhile Emma will be heading to the Nene Whitewater Centre in Northamptonshire on Sunday, to take part in her first national
