WHEN the county council wished to save garden waste from going to landfill, they introduced subsidised compost bins.
Why then, with all the talk of saving water, do not Severn Trent introduce subsidised water butts?
I have six such butts, holding an average of 250 litres each.
With refills about four times per year that represents 6,000 litres per year that Severn Trent doesn’t have to collect or treat.
Multiply that by 1,000 households, that’s six million litres.
