TWO teenagers are gearing up to take on the Three Peaks Challenge today. Abigail Cunningham and Callum Brayshaw, who are both pupils from St Richard’s School in Bredenbury near Bromyard, are hoping to raise £5,000 as a team when they take on the three mountains.
To complete the challenge the pair, alongside PE teacher Di Morgan, were set to walk more than 27 miles up the tallest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland and travel over 500 miles, all within 24 hours.
The money they raise will go to the Midlands Air Ambulance and their school who are hoping to refurbish the sports facilities.
Abigail said: “I have always loved mountains and my dad had a go at this challenge two years ago. He was unsuccessful but I thought I would love to have a go.”
They will climb Snowdon in the dark wearing head torches and are currently climbing the Malvern Hills at least once a week in the dark in preparation.
Callum said: “It is going to be tough but I am really looking forward to the challenge we just have to hope for good weather.”
