THE cousin of convicted murderer Roger Troughton will have to wait until the end of next month to find out about his trial for possessing a prohibited firearm.

Nigel Troughton, aged 57, of Paynes Place, Bushley, near Upton-upon Severn, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

At a pre-trial hearing, defence counsel Simon Burns said a firearms expert based on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk had now produced a report on the gun.

This is a Bulldog double action revolver believed to have been manufactured in 1888.

The report has been given to the prosecution for assessment.

Stephen Davies, for the crown, said they now intended to hire their own firearms expert to consider the findings.

Judge Robert Juckes adjourned the case at Worcester Crown Court until June 29 for the further report to be prepared.

Troughton, known as Tim, and said to be a man of good character, was released on bail.

His cousin, 74-year-old Roger Troughton, of Wood Street Farm, Wood Street, Bushley, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 12 years for the murder of 59- year-old Robin Troughton.
