HANLEY Swan resident Gladys Slack celebrated her 105th birthday this week.
Mrs Slack, of the Albion Lodge retirement home, was joined by her son Stuart Slack and daughter-in-law Pat Slack for the occasion on Tuesday.
She received a special card from the Queen to mark the occasion, and also a telegram from secretary of state for work and pensions Iain Duncan Smith.
Mr Slack said: “She very much enjoyed the occasion, although at 105 she’s not one for riotous parties.”
He said his mother was originally from the Peterborough area, but moved to Hanley Swan some years ago to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
