AS the Brownies were unable to get outside during their meeting, due to the wet weather, they spent most of the evening working on one of the challenges from the Culture section of the Olympics badge.
Following in the footsteps of the ancient Greeks, they used clay to design pots which they will decorate in a later meeting as a memento of the 2012 Olympics.
As a change from the Olympics theme, they also spent some time completing the Get Wise section of the Midland Region Get Out and About Badge. The girls identified and talked about eight wild birds. Then they tried some energy food and drink, commenting on the taste, as well as thinking about why these would be used when you are out and about.
Last Sunday, Bridge Builders met at the vicarage. The topic was the Holy Spirit, and members took part in a rather unusual game to illustrate living with and without the help of the Holy Spirit.
While one member was given all the utensils necessary to make a fruit salad, other members had to make theirs without any knives which made it very difficult to chop up the fruit!
Members were also required to make a jam sandwich without a knife, and great ingenuity was seen in overcoming this problem. The theological link may be rather tenuous but it is hoped the experience will stay in the memory of these young people – it was certainly a lot of fun!
