THE new Malvern Youth and Community Trust is inviting people to celebrate its takeover of the town’s youth centre.

Last week, the county council handed over the keys for the Albert Road North centre to the trust, with a grand opening tomorrow (Saturday).

Lisa Loudon, of the trust, said: “The keys and the future of the centre are ours – so come and join us. From 2.30pm there will be sporting challenges and activities for young and old including skating and facepainting, and bands including the Very Grimm Brothers, Freaky Trigger, Hennasea and Catherine Crosswell.

The day ends with a ceilidh featuring Hodge’s Dump.

Mrs Loudon said: “Delicious afternoon teas and refreshments will be served from our new-look café – why don’t you come along to take a tour of your space?

“This is a rare opportunity to see and hear Hodge’s Dump, who are coming out of semiretirement to celebrate with us.

“Some of them were themselves Malvern youthies back in the day.”

Tickets are £6 (accompanied children free) and can be reserved by calling 01684 575363.
