THE Brownie unit have been continuing with their Olympic challenges.

In the last meeting they found out about the Ancient Greek Olympics, including the fact that the first 13 Olympic games had only one event – running.

As they were unable to get outside to try out the new Olympic events they made up last week, the girls concentrated on designing a new sports kit for their event. They were active indoors, though, practising with hula hoops. We certainly have some champion hulahoopers in the unit.

Last Saturday, Outer Limits met at the Vicarage. The theme for the evening was Christian Aid and members learned about the life of young people in developing countries, and realised how lucky they were to have the lifestyle available to them in this country.

We played the building towers game, which highlighted how unfair life can be as the materials they were given to build with varied from group to group! Donations towards the evening will be given to Christian Aid this month, along with the collection from Bridge Builders.

St Mary’s PCC will be held on Tuesday at the Old School House, at 7.30pm.

At the recent meeting of Longdon, Queenhill and Holdfast Parish Council, district councillor Mrs Behan gave a brief update including local broadband initiatives and problems, confirming Longdon had become the worst area in Worcestershire.

County councillor Tom Wells gave a brief report and update on the proposed provision of marker posts at the Yarde Bridge accident area. He also reported the arrangement he had made in respect of staging for Castlemorton Village Hall.

The chairman’s report concentrated on the Localism Act, explained in more detail by the clerk.
