THE mayor of Malvern, Councillor Ian Hopwood, was one of the special guests when Acorns held its spring fair at the Three Counties Hospice in Worcester.

Crowds braved the cold on Saturday to join in the fun, with face painting and hook-a-duck among the many attractions.

Volunteers and staff manned stalls, as children rode on a Victorian merry-go-round and tried their hand at skittles and face painting.

Head nurse Sue Curry said, “It was great to see so many people turning up to support our spring fair, despite the chilly weather, to help us care for life-limited children and their families.

“Everyone worked so hard preparing games and making cakes and it was a super event.

It was such a cold afternoon, but the warmth from staff and volunteers manning the stalls really made the day.”

Acorns is Coun Hopwood’s charity for his year in office, and he is hosting a Diamond Jubilee charity ball at the Bank House, Bransford, on Friday, June 1, in support of Acorns.
