100 YEARS AGO.

On Monday afternoon Cyril Malsom, son of Mr J W Malsom, Quest Hills Road Post Office, while climbing the railings in the playground of the Church Schools at Malvern Link, had the misfortune to slip, and one of his legs was impaled by a spike on the rails, inflicting a rather severe wound. He was attended to by Dr Stephens, who found it necessary to put several stitches in the wound. The lad was taken home, where he is progressing favourably.

50 YEARS AGO.

A suggestion that the roadway to the Worcestershire Beacon should be grassed over and that concrete strips should be laid to take vehicular traffic, thus making it more attractive to pedestrians, had been turned down by a sub-committee of the Malvern Hills Conservators. At Monday's meeting of the board, the committee will report that they think the cost will be too great, that it would be urbanizing the hills, taking away their natural beauty, and would tend to encourage motor traffic.

25 YEARS AGO.

Parents at Fairseat School, Malvern are mounting an eleventh-hour rescue operation after being told it may close at the end of this term. The nursery and preparatory school is being sold by owners' St James's and the Abbey because there are not enough pupils.

A hippy convoy which arrived in Ledbury in two old buses and a converted ambulance have been given until today to move off private land alongside the Worcester Road. The group of four men, four women and a boy have been on land at the Old Quarry belonging to the Hon. Edward Biddulph.
