THE anti-circus correspondents clearly had good intentions, but seem sadly misinformed.

Had they seen the show and spoken to the audience afterwards, they would have seen animals in excellent condition, without stress and well cared for.

The movements were entirely natural and the training obviously reward-based.

The loud music accompanied the human performers, not the animal acts.

They mentioned show horses and dogs being “well-loved family pets”. Sadly at the highest levels dogs are sometimes not allowed outside lest they spoil their looks, and horses can be simply treated as revenuegenerating machines.

How much better is a life of interest and stimulation?

By contrast with much television, Circus Mondao was true family entertainment. Some performers were themselves young, they danced, balanced and performed with the animals.

Hard work and self-discipline are required to develop such skills.

Responsibility, teamwork, caring for animals – aren’t these the things we want children to learn?

Don’t destroy the circus in the belief that the animals are unhappy. If the protesters had looked, they would have seen no cruelty, only devotion. If they really want to help animals, it is puppy farms and intensive livestock units that need picketing.
