IN answer to the criticism of Malvern Town Football Club.

I think the gentlemen in question who have written to the Malvern Gazette in the past need, I suggest, to “put your money where your mouth is” and help the club to regenerate.

Haven’t we got two youth set-ups – one being knocked back about Sling Lane and one looking for places to play? The facilities are already in place – all it needs is redecoration. Surely the parents of boys who play there are skilled in some form of building or just a lick of paint? Anyone can do that, surely?

Keep the senior teams but start developing the youth teams, for the future of Malvern Town.

As for running the club, I know the people who help there. My daughter is the tea, coffee and chips lady at half and full time. My son-in-law helps run a team there as well, all for nothing.

Where else can boys and girls play football and run around enjoying themselves?

Two of my grandsons play football – one for Newtown Sports for 14 years and one for the Malvern Town Youth.

I miss the Sunday games, the cold wind and rain, but the enjoyment of seeing them come out of the stand at the Town on cup final days is priceless.

Whether we win or lose, when you see the pride on those kids’ faces it is clear it means everything to them.

So stop knocking and do something about it.
