THE sale of one of Malvern Hills District Council’s former offices has been agreed for a value “very close” to its £750,000 asking price.
Executive committee members unanimously backed the deal to sell Portland House, in Church Street, to an unnamed local developer.
The building, which used to be MHDC’s planning office, was initially marketed in May 2009.
A report by the council’s head of resources, Andy Baldwin, goes on to state: “The offer represents good value in the current market, made more favourable given the current level of outgoings coupled with there being little prospect of any significant capital growth in the short term.”
The average annual expenditure on the building over the last three financial years has been £39,000.
