MALVERN Link-based social enterprise Bricycles is putting the cycling into recycling.
Bricycles, which is based in Worcester Road, is appealing for donations of old or unwanted bikes that can be saved from going to waste, a scheme supported by Worcestershire County Council’s Let’s Waste Less campaign.
The donated bikes will be lovingly restored, and even if they are beyond repair, the parts live on to be used on other bikes or as scrap metal.
Money made from selling restored bikes helps fund Bricycles' recycling work.
Further from home, Bricycles donates to Bikes for Africa, which provides bicycles to people who have no other transport.
County councillor Anthony Blagg said: “This is a wonderful idea to help reduce the amount of reusable waste.
The staff at Bricycles lovingly restore old bikes and make sure they are put to good use.”
Nick Trotman, managing director of Bricycles, said: “We take any used, old, discarded or unwanted bike, regardless of its age or condition. We also take any unwanted parts and accessories.”
