WHAT I would like to know is how the county council’s Highways committee happened to have such a huge quantity of unwanted yellow paint in stock in the first place?
No doubt they saw a wonderful opportunity to get rid of it by using it on Upton Bridge… which has now got to be repainted with the chosen colour scheme. i.e. dark blue with gold decoration at added cost.
It would seem to me that the gold decoration is a complete waste of money.
Upton Bridge is a very plain, functional bridge not suitable for decoration.
In fact, I think the old pale green we have had for years and years was better in many ways, not least, that being a light tone, was more visible to motorists in the dark.
