A BUMPER crop of new entries have been recruited to represent Malvern in Heart of England in Bloom’s It’s Your Neighbourhood competition this summer.
Malvern has an outstanding record in terms of both success and number of entries in the annual awards, which encourage small groups of residents to take action to improve their local environment.
But Malvern in Bloom chairman John Jordan is not content for the town to rest on its laurels.
He has been hard at work recruiting six new first-time entrants to take part.
These include residents’ gardens at Elizabeth Fitzroy Support’s Dalvington care home, in Lower Howsell Road, and the Viscount Cobham Court retirement living complex, in Pickersleigh Road.
Pathways, a recovery support organisation which has a garden at the Three Counties Showground, will also be doing their bit.
They will be joined by the Biblethemed garden at Holly Mount Church, in Queens Drive, and allotment holders at Monksfield Lane.
The final newcomer is Link Nurseries, an initiative run by the Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust at Powick, where clients grow vegetables and flowers in the garden.
Mr Jordan said he was delighted to welcome so many new groups to Malvern’s In Bloom campaign, and stressed that there was still time for even more to join in.
“The neighbourhood awards are about showcasing all of the fantastic efforts that people are putting in to keep our town looking at its best,” he said.
