BROMYARD councillors are concerned their views on parking restrictions have been ignored.

Bromyard and Winslow Town Council voted on proposed onstreet waiting restrictions on 10 of the town’s roads, including Sherford Street, New Road and Pump Street last year.

However, there are now concerns Herefordshire Council and its contractors Amey have ignored some of their suggestions after a number of proposals were not included in a revised plan.

For example, a one-way system in Pump Street remains on the cards despite town councillors having reservations about it being dealt with in isolation.

Councillor Tony Burt said: “I am totally disgusted they have ignored the councillors of Bromyard, who responded to their consultation.

“They have not justified why they have ignored our very sensible proposals. We cannot accept the current proposals without detailed explanations.”

Coun Trevor Smith said: “If they aren’t going to take any notice of us we don’t need to invest our time. I want an explanation.”

The council moved to seek an explanation from Herefordshire Council.

In other business the town’s ambulance station has been rehoused at the Community Hospital in Hillside Road as part of West Midlands Ambulance Service’s Make Ready system.

The old site in New Road has been put up for sale with a list price of £85,000 and potential for future housing development, subject to planning permission.

Six community paramedics are already serving the town 24 hours a day under the new arrangements.

Backing was given for Halo Leisure’s plans to stage a series of events from the Bromyard Centre for Sport Relief. On Sunday, March 25, people will have the choice of running or walking one, three or six miles to raise money for people at home and abroad.

A payment of £622 from the council’s Better Welcome fund will be made to the Bromyard and District Local History Society towards the cost of producing a town trail leaflet.
