MALVERN Community Collective is keen to hear ideas for a new name for Malvern Youth Centre and is running a contest to find the right one.
The collective recently succeeded in its bid to take the centre in Albert Road North into community hands and will officially take on the running of the building on Sunday, April 1.
Caitlin Belgard, of the collective, said: “We feel the centre needs a new name to reflect all that it can offer. It will house a vibrant coffee bar/café which will be open during the day and be available for separate hire in the evenings.
“The centre will still have a strong youth work focus alongside offering the wider community access to its versatile spaces for private hire.
“We’ve had a lot of interest from community groups wishing to hire office or class space.
“And we’re also anticipating a busy summer of arts events."
Malvern Community Collective is having a volunteer meeting at the youth centre on Wednesday from 6pm.
The meeting is open to all who would like be involved or have ideas about what they would like to see at the centre.
Suggestions for the new name should be sent to the Naming Competition, Malvern Youth Centre, Albert Road North Malvern WR14 2YF, or e-mail to mccollective@hotmail.co.uk.
