100 YEARS AGO.
On Tuesday, Mr A Firkins, the popular foreman at Messrs Schweppes' factory was the recipient of a handsome farewell presentation, which took the form of a pair of razors in case, and a gold-mounted walking stick. Mr Firkins has had upwards of 20 years' service with the firm, the latter part as foreman. He leaves to take up a similar position at their Bristol factory. Mr Firkins is a member of Colwall Parish Council and parochial committee.

50 YEARS AGO.
A car and a caravan parked beside an unoccupied two-storey building in Portland Road, Malvern, were damaged when the building collapsed on Sunday night. Scenery belonging to the Malvern Opera and Ballet Club which was stored in the building was also damaged. For a time the road was impassable.

25 YEARS AGO.
Plans for reopening the railway station in Malvern Wells which closed in the sixties during the Beeching cuts have split the parish council. Opinion was sharply divided at last Thursday's meeting between those who argued that the station was unnecessary and those who stressed it would reduce road traffic. Councillors agreed to carry out their own research into local opinion and report back to the Malvern Hills District Council public health committee.
