I WAS interested to see on last week’s letters page the report on the Malvern Rotary Club Tree of Light and the Thought for the Week from Mgr Kilgarriff concerning his time in Arusha, northern Tanzania, and the charity Project Arusha.

In July, my daughter and some of her fellow sixth formers from Royal Grammar School, Worcester, will be going on an expedition to northern Tanzania, where they will bring light to the lives of staff and pupils at a primary school by supplying and fitting solar lighting in their school buildings.

I am a member of Tewkesbury Rotary Club and we have collaborated with RGS Worcester to raise funds for this project. Tewkesbury Rotary Club with the help of a Rotary district grant have contributed £800 and the students have matched this with their own fund raising so as to meet the total cost of the project. In addition the students at RGS Worcester are raising funds for other school equipment and hope to raise a total of about £5000.

Anyone wishing to support our fund-raising effort can contact me at lawler@mbdlaw.co.uk.
