RE: CANNABIS in a closet, Malvern Gazette front page, Decmber 16 Really – was this a joke?
Have the police nothing better to spend their time and money on than raid houses looking for a little bit of cannabis in a wardrobe?
Your leading article made the police look utterly risible: the superintendent wanting to keep the interview short as he wanted to ‘get out there’, his remarks that ‘our gang is bigger than theirs’, and the fact that four police officers ‘put the door in with two blows’.
All this heavy-handed buffoonery for three cannabis plants, some ‘herbal cannabis’ and so-called ‘drug paraphernalia’?
This would have been a gift for Ben Elton’s The Thin Blue Line.
If there was a more important result from Operation Christmas Crackdown your article didn’t mention it.
And I’m sorry, but I don’t get the link between growing cannabis – possibly only for personal or medicinal use – and ‘pre-Christmas crime’.
Yes, I can appreciate that crime does escalate during the Christmas period, so officers should get out of the closet and into the streets, get to know the families in their patch and not attack people in their own homes.
