WE are writing to express our strong support for the proposed Sainsbury’s development in Ledbury.
We have lived in or near Ledbury for all our lives, and firmly believe that the town must move with the times and provide the type of services and facilities that modern lifestyles demand.
We do not believe the High Street will be threatened by this proposal – the types of shops and services provided are completely different. There is room and demand for both. From our point of view, the proposed development would prevent the need for us to travel to larger stores in Malvern, Gloucester or Hereford.
We cannot think of any occasion when the development would stop us visiting Ledbury town centre which caters for very different requirements.
The proposed petrol station would bring much needed competition to the town and keep unnecessary traffic out of the congested town centre.
We very much hope that the silent majority speak up and we would urge the planning committee to approve the application.
