VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help with a project to improve bird habitats at a local nature reserve.
A volunteer day is taking place at Ravenshill Woodland Reserve in Alfrick between 9am and 3pm on Thursday.
Activities will include clearing scrub, bramble and bracken near to the edge of the woodland.
Organiser Phil Hopkinson said: “The day is part of a programme of work aimed at improving the habitat for birds.
“We are doing this by increasing the amount of light reaching the woodland floor and helping the native trees and flowers on which many of our bird species rely to regenerate.”
All tools will be provided along with dinner and hot drinks.
Anyone who would like to attend should call Mr Hopkinson on 07946 169123 or e-mail pahoppy@btinternet.com.
Suitable footwear should be worn as the reserve is very muddy in places.
