A WOMAN caught driving at 55mph in a 30mph zone has been warned that she faces a ban if she offends again.
Lucy Roberts, aged 29, of Cross Hands, Hanley Castle, near Malvern, admitted speeding on the B4209 at Hanley Swan on July 21 2011 when she appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.
Defending, Becky Connelly said the incident had occurred on a stretch of road where the speed limit drops from 60mph to 40mph and then 30mph in quick succession.
“She was making efforts to slow down but not quickly enough, although she is aware that this is no excuse,” she said.
She added that Roberts used her car to get to work and take her son to a childminder and hospital appointments.
Roberts was issued with six penalty points – bringing the total on her licence to nine – and fined £100.
Chairman of the bench Keith Stokes-Smith told her: “If there is a next offence it will result in you being disqualified. You really must be more vigilant and not do things that you know to be wrong.”
