A TEENAGER from Upton who assaulted and harassed another man to the point where he was scared to go out alone has been made the subject of a restraining order.

Daniel Jones, 18, of School Lane, must not contact Aaron Chamberlain by “any means whatsoever” for 18 months after admitting attacking him in Kidderminster and then threatening him at a shopping centre a fortnight later.

Sam Webley, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, December 29, said Mr Chamberlain was sitting on steps behind the Wilkinson store in Market Street, Kiddeminster, at about 2.30pm on August 24 when he was approached by a group of youths, including Jones.

Jones hit Mr Chamberlain and followed him to the front of the store saying he was going to “get him”.

Jones caught up with him in Oxford Street and punched him to the ground before kicking him, leaving him with a black eye and a sore jaw and ribs.

Then, on September 8, Mr Chamberlain was at the Swan Centre in Kidderminster with his mother when Jones began shouting at them. He followed them before waiting for them at the top of an escalator.

A statement from Mr Chamberlainsaid the incidents had left him scared to go out alone or at all in Kidderminster.

Defending, Gary Harper said Mr Chamberlain had not received any medical attention.

“I am not trying to make light of it, but they were not longlasting injuries,” he said.

Jones, who also admitted resisting a police officer on September 19, was also given an 18- month community order with a 12-month supervision requirement and told to pay £300 compensation and £150 costs.

Chairman of the bench Roger Warrington told him: “The course of action you undertook has clearly affected the victim well beyond physical injuries.”
