MANY of you will think that the Christmas season is over and that life is getting back to normal, however, don’t forget that the West Malvern Village Panto has yet to be performed! Treasure Island will be happening on the evenings of January 12, 13 and 14 and will involve singing, dancing, a dame, a band of villains, pirate treasure and much, much more! To book your tickets please ring 567328 Have you had any ideas about how the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee should be celebrated in the Village this year? If so, or, if you would like to be involved in any plans, there is going to be an open meeting in the Armpit at the Brewers Arms on Thursday, January 12 at 7pm. Parish Councillors do not want this to be a Parish Council run event but want to encourage all locals residents to come along with suggestions and to get involved – so the more people who attend the meeting the better. Now also seems to be a good time to remind local artists that the PC are looking for a design to be printed/etched on mugs or glasses as a memento of the Jubilee for local children - anyone who would like more information should contact David Sharp on 573213. There is a Parish Council meeting on Monday, January 9 in the Village hall for those who would like to attend.
Also on the evening of January 12 is the first WI meeting of the year when author Juliet Archer will be talking about her work. She is apparently on a mission to modernise all six of Jane Austen’s completed novels and will be reading from her books as well as talking about her mission. As usual the meeting will be at St James’s School at 7.30pm.
There will be a Community Market on the afternoon (at 3.15pm) of Friday, January 13 at the School – as usual, everyone is welcome to go along as a buyer or seller.
Finally, advance notice of the Village Hall Committee’s AGM; which is on Monday, January 16 in the Village Hall at 7.30pm. All village residents are warmly invited to go along and see the improvements to the Fisher Hall, talk to the committee and perhaps offer suggestions as to how they would like to see the Hall used in the future. As an added incentive, refreshments will be available!
