I AM writing to express my disappointment regarding the state of the bus service in Malvern. This has been a good service in the past that greatly helps older members of the community to get about and remain independent. Due to recent cuts this is no longer the case.
Now the only bus that comes up Geraldine Road is the 362 red bus at 8.20am (for the school). The 362 was redirected along St Andrews Road because some residents up Geraldine Road complained about the bus. Elderly residents of Geraldine Close and Geraldine Court used to be able to get on a bus into town but many are unable to walk the extra distance to the St Andrews Road stop.
We have been told we are unable to use our bus passes on the only bus that comes our way. (They can only be used after 9.30am). This is no good as there are no buses after this time.
I feel this discriminates against older people. I can't see how this can be saving the Council any money but it makes the lives of the elderly residents here much more restricted and difficult.
I am a widow in my eighties, and have great difficulty walking any distance, so the red bus was a lifeline for me and other elderly people.
MRS K E POWELL, Geraldine Close, Malvern.
