BEFORE the meeting started, Members were served with a piece of wedding cake and a glass of bubbly to join in with the forthcoming celebrations of the Royal Wedding. Members toasted the health and happiness of the happy couple.
President, Pam Wilkinson, gave a warm welcome to everyone and Jerusalem was sung to start the meeting. Details of various activities happening in the next few weeks were given, including the Queenhill Art Exhibition from May 14–21 when members were asked to help with stewardship.
The speaker, Barbara Tindale, was introduced. Although many members already knew her as their local chiropodist, she came to talk about another of her passions – Astrology, is it art or science?
Astrology has been practiced for many thousands of years and the position of planets has been faithfully recorded over the years for subsequent reference. To draw up a horoscope chart for someone, the astrologer needs to know that person’s date and time of birth. The chart is based on the details of where the exact positions of the planets were in the sky at the moment of birth.
A vote of thanks was given by Ann Newell for a very interesting and enjoyable talk.
The raffle, tea and cakes completed a very entertaining afternoon. The next meeting will be held on May 12, all visitors are very welcome.
