The speaker for the evening was Wendy Hill of the Elgar society, who gave a very interesting talk on Sir Edward Elgar’s early life.
She played some of his music and brought along several biographies and concert programmes. also looking at items brought by members which had a Elgar connection. She played extracts from Salut d’amour, composed for his wife, Caractacus because of the Colwall connection and one of the Enigma Variations.
The audience were very appreciative, and who, after the vote of thanks by Mary Evans, said - "Please can we have the next talk in the series”.
Next month’s speaker is scheduled to be Cora Weaver on the Healing Baths of Droitwich Spa on May 9 at 7pm. Visitors always welcome.
