"MAY 8th will be a red-letter day for the Scouts in Malvern," reported the Malvern News 100 years ago.
"On that day, the Chief Scout, General Sir R S S Baden-Powell is coming in order to be present at the display to be given by the 1st Malvern Troop of Baden-Powell Boy Scouts at the Assembly Rooms, when an exciting play entitled Kidnapped, written by two Worcester Scoutmasters and introducing many of the useful things that a Scout learns, will be performed.
"All the acting is to be done by the Officer and Scouts of the 1st Malvern Troop, and rehearsals have been in progress for some weeks.
"At the end of the play all the Baden-Powell Scouts in Malvern, numbering well over a hundred, with be drawn up on the stage and the General will give a short address."
