AT the April meeting the members of Welland Art and Crafts Group welcomed Jen Boyer to speak on the life and work of William Morris, a most remarkable man who was the father of the Art and Crafts movement.

As a student at Oxford he formed a friendship with Edward Burne-Jones which lasted a lifetime. Morris was known in some quarters as a poet and author and in others as an architect, an artist, a designer and a printer. He was a man driven by his many talents so that when he died his Doctor said "He died from being William Morris".

The next meeting of the Group on Friday, May 13 at 7.30pm in Welland Parish Hall is a practical evening making mosaic framed mirrors under the guidance of member Pat Taylor.
