THE Brownies in First Longdon Brownie Pack have spent five meetings getting to grips with the basics of First Aid in order to gain a badge. They can now confidently put casualties in the recovery position, deal with cuts, put an arm in a sling, etc. thanks to some excellent teaching from Rosie Roberts, who is Malvern Division Girlguiding First Aid Trainer.
Last Sunday the Lent Lunch held at the Vicarage raised £108 which will be divided between Annie’s expedition to Tanzania and youth work in the Benefice. Annie will be spending some time working in the community with underprivileged children. Money for the youth work will be put towards maintaining an exciting programme for young people in the Benefice. Thank you to all those who came, made soup, gave donations, etc. It was a very happy, social occasion on a beautiful sunny day.
There will be a Family Service at St Nicholas’ Church, Queenhill on Sunday, April 17 at 9.45am. Evening Prayer will take place at St Mary’s Church, Longdon at 6.30pm.
Two Annual Parochial Church Meetings will be held next week: on Monday, April 18 at St Nicholas’ Church, and on Tuesday, April 19 at St Mary’s Church. Each meeting begins at 7.30pm and includes refreshments to round off an enjoyable and informative evening. Certain business matters will be undertaken, including election of churchwardens and PCC members but, most importantly, there will be ample opportunity to share in open discussion about the life and ministry of your parish church.
Don’t forget the Activity Morning (10am-noon) at the Vicarage for young people aged five and over. Come and have fun making Easter decorations, cooking, singing, listening to the Easter story, playing games and reminding yourself of what Easter is really all about! There is a small charge of £4 to cover the cost of materials and refreshments. Places are limited, so ring Eileen on 833256 to book your place as soon as possible!
Also on Good Friday, Choral Worship will be held at 4pm at St Mary’s Church.
