THE April meeting opened with a welcome to the members, new members and guests.

Members were reminded of the imminent lecture day with lunch and the Resolutions meeting in May, when there will be two resolutions to discuss and vote on. The meeting will take place in St. James' Church as the village hall will be used as a voting centre.

Several members had attended the Spring Council meeting at the Three Counties showground recently when the speakers had been Steven Thrush on Breast Cancer Care, and Stephen Leonard, the television vet, of Vets in Training fame. A report on this meeting was given to members.

The meeting was then taken over by the Members' Evening Committee who divided everyone into four teams who had to complete a chocolate quiz, and picture quiz, decorate an egg for Easter and make a paper plane. Much laughter ensued as everyone set about their tasks. Some discovered they were good at egg decorating and making paper planes, others discovered that they were not. Finally the four best planes were chosen for a flying competition and the aforesaid eggs were used in an egg and spoon race. This was followed by typically delicious WI refreshments. This was a happy evening in the best Callow End WI tradition.
