NEWLY-promoted Malvern Town suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Midland premier division side Ledbury Town on Saturday in this pre-season friendly.
LEDBURY TOWN 2, MALVERN TOWN 0
Malvern played down the slope in the opening half and caused the home defence some problems forcing Alex Goode in the Ledbury goal to make several good saves from Tom Hobbs and Neil Gardiner.
It was Ledbury's Lee Allen who opened the scoring when Clinton Thick in the Malvern goal slipped and Allen coolly lobbed the ball home from 20 yards on 40 minutes.
After the break, Ledbury brought on youngsters Asa Smith, Nick Loader, Scott Roberts and Anthony Bradford, and they all had good debuts.
With Peter Boyle in the Ledbury defence winning everything and man-of-the-match Alex Goode making good double saves from Dean Roberts and Tom Hobbs, Ledbury's defence stood firm.
It was Peter Boyle who scored Ledbury's second goal with a 30-yard free-kick which the Malvern 'keeper misjudged.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Malvern Town play two friendly games at Bromyard Town's Delahay Meadow, with the first team kick-off at 1.30pm and the reserves kick-off at 3.30pm.
