THE first items for this week concern St James’s Church’s Help with the Cleaning weekend. The success of the events in the Church mean that there needs to be more help with the cleaning: Sunday, April 25 after the Service (approx noon) sees the first big clean. There is plenty of cleaning materials at the Church but if you feel that you could bring your own then that will be acceptable.

Forthcoming Events advance notice of proposed events. On Saturday, May 1 at 7pm in the Church, return visit by the Camping and Caravanning Club Brass Band.The tickets are £5 per person or £15 for a Family Ticket. These tickets are available by phoning Dave and Sue Richardson on 01684 592088 or from Welland Post Office.

The next Kids Klobber will take place at the Village Hall on May 15 at 11am. Please contact Jo Horrobin for further details on 01684 310256.

Also, on May 15 the New Pavilion on Spittalfields will hold an Open Day. Further details will follow.

On Sunday,May 16 a matinee performance (3.30pm) of The Wind in the Willows (adapted from a novel by Kenneth Graham) will be performed by the Ratatat Theatre Company who will be touring as part of the Shindig Spring Programme and partly sponsored by the Arts Council and local district and county council. The time to be confirmed is probably 3.30 pm. Suitable for adults and families. Tickets will be on sale early in April. Sunday, July 11 - Car Boot Sale (To be confirmed) Saturday and Sunday, July 17-18 - Arts and Craft Festival and barbecue. Saturday, September 11 - Joint Benefice Social in Welland. On September 18 the Tredegar Orpheus Male Voice Choir will make a return visit to Welland for a concert in the Church. Following the concert the choir will retire to the Pheasant Inn for a meal and, no doubt, continue to give an impromptu performance. Further details will be published later.
