DO you have the space to keep a special cat indoors? Then you could help a Worcestershire pet charity.

The Worcester and District branch of Cats Protection is urgently looking for an indoor home for a loving cat who has the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).

Lynn Glaze, branch co-ordinator, said: "Spooks is a two-year-old male who was found as a stray with a horrible collar wound. He has undergone major pioneering surgery for his wound and received lots of TLC at the vets where he was resident for long periods. Now his wound has healed he is back with his foster mum.”

Spooks’ condition is the feline equivalent of the HIV virus. There is no risk of infection for people in contact with FIV-positive cats and they can live for many years without any signs of illness.

Mrs Glaze said: “If you think about it, FIV cats can be your companions for longer, as they need to be kept indoors they have less chance of picking up infections or having a road accident.

“Please don’t overlook Spooks because of FIV. Do something great and give him a chance. He is just like a normal cat and is the perfect companion if you do not have an outside area and are therefore looking for a house cat.”
