SOAP favourites Ben Freeman and Jessica Biddall join X Factor finalist Scott Bruton in the musical Dreamboats and Petticoats at Malvern Theatres next week.
Inspired by the 2007 smash hit album Dreamboats and Petticoats and Dreamboats and Petticoats Two, which rocketed to number two in the charts within the first week of it’s release in November 2008, comes a major new production, featuring some of the greatest hit songs written.
Manchester born Scott Bruton, one of this year’s X Factor finalists, stars in this brand new musical. Scott wowed the nation, Simon Cowell and the other judges with his vocal talents as he battled his way into the top 12 in 2008’s contest.
Joining Scott is Ben Freeman who played the role of Scott Windsor for 10 years in ITV’s hit soap opera Emmerdale, and Jennifer Biddall who played Jessica Harris in Hollyoaks.
Three new stars, Daisy Wood-Davis, A J Dean and Emma Hatton, who were hand-picked from hundreds of hopefuls who attended the open auditions in London’s West End, are also in the cast as is David Cardy who is best known for his role as Chris Theodopolopodous from Birds of a Feather.
Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the team behind Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds of a Feather, and Shine on Harvey Moon, this spectacular new production will take you back to a time when each passing week brought another classic track.
In 1961 emotions run high as talented young musicians Norman and Bobby compete to win the hearts of their adoring female fans – and more importantly, the gorgeous Laura.
But when Laura shows that she’s no slouch with the guitar, rock ‘n’ roll fame beckons.
The show features classic tracks from Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury, Chuck Berry and many more.
Dreamboats and Petticoats runs from Monday until Saturday, June 8-13. Tickets cost £20-£26 and are available on 01684 892277 or at malvern-theatres.co.uk
