THIS year at Longdon St Mary Primary School, sports day is going to last all week! A variety of activities are planned and special visitors too: Worcester Wolves (Monday), Worcester Warriors (Tuesday), Local Marathon runner (Wednesday) and Museum on the Move (Thursday). The following week they will welcome Laura McEwan to their Thursday collective worship to talk about the discipline of Tai Kwando. Every afternoon there will be a series of sporting activities planned for the children to participate in as family groups. For the entire week the children may come to school in their PE kits, suitable footwear i.e. trainers or pumps, sunhats/caps (eternal optimists here) and their water bottles. Parents and Carers are welcome to attend the closing ceremony on Friday afternoon beginning at 2.15pm During the week beginning June 8, the children will be learning how to have fun with the Internet but also how to stay safe! Each class will have timetabled sessions of activities based on resources recommended from the Local Authority. During these sessions parents are welcome to attend to share the message of Internet Safety. Furthermore the children will receive an individual Global Identification Password which will give the children access to their Learning Platform; this will be explained in more detail nearer the time.
As their Changing the World Challenge for the Girlguiding Centenary, Longdon Brownies held a photo and picture exhibition on a theme of Because I'm a Girl. They had chosen this challenge as they had spent some time finding out about the lives of girls in Africa and comparing them with their own lives. During the evening the Brownies also performed puppet shows using puppets they had designed themselves. They raised £26 for Plan UK to help with building a school for 170 girls in Liberia As it is a fifth Sunday of the month this week, there will not be a service at Queenhill or Longdon. Instead, there will be a Benefice Family Communion at St Peter’s Church, Bushley beginning at 10.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
