COMMUNITY support officer Sarah Hide is the newest member of Upton’s Local Policing Team.

She joins fellow CSO Sally McPherson and Local Police Officer Allen Naulls in sharing responsibility for local policing matters.

CSO Hide has been in her new role for just under a month, having completed her training at the West Mercia Constabulary HQ at Hindlip earlier this year.

Although she is new to the role of CSO she has worked for West Mercia Constabulary before, starting in 2005 as a case worker and more recently working on a safety and justice project.

Despite only being in the role for a short time, CSO Hide knows she has found a job she loves doing.

“A lot of the work I have done previously has been with public services, but it was more over the phone and office-based,” she explained. “I wanted to be able to spend more time out in the community and working face-to-face with people.

“It has been brilliant so far. There is a great team in Upton and I am really enjoying it.”

CSO Hide believes the key responsibility of the CSO role is to address any concerns or quality of life issues raised by residents.

“It could be things like car parking, speeding or anti-social behaviour. Our job is about trying to look at those issues and address them as a team,” she added.
