PRECONCEPTIONS will be challenged when pupils from Queen Elizabeth Humanities College, Bromyard, hold an exhibition throughout June.

The project, called Labelled, seeks to challenge the perceptions that young people are usually subjected to, through the creation of t-shirts, banners and photographs.

These are labelled with slogans such as ‘bullying can hurt’ and ‘we have a right’ and will be shown at the Bromyard Centre, in Cruxwell Street, from today (Friday) until Saturday, June 20.

The pupils have been assisted by Herefordshire Council’s youth workers as part of the Hereford Photography Festival.

Pippa Hart, Herefordshire Council, said: “The good thing about a project like this is that it allows young people to explore their creativity on one level and discuss some quite tricky issues around the power of the media on another.”

In addition a special event has been organised for today (Friday, May 29) at the Heritage Centre, Bromyard, between 6pm and 9pm aimed at the whole community. The event will consist of a film and photography artwork. Music will be provided by local youngsters and touring band Dubmerge.
