Spot the different scarecrow characters on a designated route through the village starting at the Park Hotel where you collect your route map for £2. This is all in aid of The Cerebral Connections charity at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Remember if you have made a scarecrow they must be in place by 1pm on Monday. There will also be refreshments available at Provident Villa on the Green, the Park Hotel, the Crown Inn and Bonne Bouche.

Fourteen members of the congregation from St. James Church braved the weather last Sunday to undertake part of the village boundary walk. Last Sunday was Rogation Sunday when Beating the Bounds traditionally took place processing round the parish boundary. The purpose of this in the past was to mark the exact extent of a parish before the days of clear cut boundaries and provided an excuse for all sorts of high jinks, some of them dating back to a pre-Christian era.

The Colwall Players next production is Antigone by Sophocles. First performed in Athens in 440 BC, it won first prize for the prestigious Festival of Drama. The Colwall Players are using the very recent version by the Irish Poet and playwright Seamus Heaney, first produced for the centenary of Dublin's Abbey Theatre in 2004. This production will run from Thursday, May 28 to Saturday, May 30. Running time will be about 75 minutes and refreshments will be available after the show. Tickets are priced at £7 and £4 (under 16) and are available from John Goodwin Estate Agents 01684 540300.
