THE chance to buy one of the pipes from St Peter’s Church organ is just one of the fund-raising schemes planned to restore the imposing instrument.

A team headed by David Kemp, town councillor and head of music at Queen Elizabeth school, has come up with a raft of ideas to generate the necessary £40,000 to get the organ fixed.

Members of the public who want to support the project can buy one of the pipes, priced at between £5 and £100 dependent on size, and receive a certificate and their donation recorded in a commemorative book.

Pipes will be on sale at various events around Bromyard over the next few months, including the town’s Gala Festival.

Jewellery is also being sought from members of the public to raise the required funds.

Anyone with gold or silver they would like to donate can contact Irene Green or David Kemp on 01885 482157.

Coun Kemp said: “The appeal launch has been most successful and so far, together with other ring fenced funds, we have over £10,000 raised. The committee of fundraisers are independent of St Peter’s Church and have been asked to stress that should the appeal fail and not enough funds be raised during the three year period allocated, specific donations will be returned to the donors.”
